Today was another great day in work experience with Junior infants. In the morning the girls were doing Irish. I walked around and helped all the girls with their Irish.

Later on i was asked to make some maths posters for the classrooms. i did it with th TY who was in the other Junior Infants. We had to draw,paint and cut out the pictures etc for the class room.We completed these and the two teacherswere very happy with the finished product! this took us till Lunch time to finish.

Last week we decided (Between the 5 tys that r on work exp. in the school) we would have a 'hot chocolate Lunch' the following each. we deceided what everyone had to bring eg. on girl brought the hot choco. I made cookies!!! So we all had hot chocolate and cookies at Lunch 2day! It was yummy.... :)

After Lunch I walked around and helped out. Then the teacher asked me to paint and cut out letters to make a sign. 
Before the day was finished i also helped skick art to white pages.

I am really enjoying work experience and dont want it to end. I love working with the children. I dont want to leave I want to stay for the whole year!! :) it has really shown be (so far) that would like to be a teacher in the future.

Week 6!!

This Wednesday was the 6th week of work experience! I cant believe how fast it has gone, only for weeks left! this was the first week back after mid-term

Today, when I came into the classroom all the girls were sitting in different places because that had all changed places after the mid term. It was hard to remember all the names of the girls because I knew them by where they sit but i eventually got use to it!!

In the morning, I went around each girls desk first giving them notes for home and then cut out characters for their homework. While i was doing this the principal came done and asked would she be able to take me to do the book Fair with the other girl in working experience. I was really delighted to do it!
When I wasn't helping at the book fair in the hall I was helping the junior infants in whatever the were doing and did some art with them also!
During the day myself and the other tys managed the book fair. We looked after the payment of books,order of books and helping all the students find books they wanted. We basically ran a small book store for a day!! I really like being the book fair women lol :) I really enjoyed this. I learnt many new skills such as money management. 
Today was another enjoyable day, I really enjoyed helping out with the Book Fair!

Today was my 5th day/week in work experience in the primary school! I have really got to know (what i call) my junior infants over the past few week. :)

Today was a very busy day as per usual when working with 4 and 5 year olds!
In the morning and throughout the day i walked around the class and helped them with whatever they were doing. I answered any questions they had and helped as much as I could!

After break i minded/looked after the girls for 10 minutes because the class teacher was having her break (she had been on yard duties) this was a great experience because i learnt how to control the class alone and keep them quiet while colouring.
I also did art with the girls again with the girls which again was not only great fun but valuable too! In art we did some more cutting and painting.

The other duties i performed were cutting out signs for the teacher,doing messages for her and photocopying! the photocopying took a while but I eventually got it after about 4 trys

Today i also was given cutting to by another teacher in the school for her classes. I also did some filing for a senior infant teacher. All interactions with staff and pupils as per usual were good.

I really enjoyed the day once again! Cant wait till next :)

Week 4 of first work experience placement!

Today was a really enjoyable day!!

In the morning I called all the girls one by one up to my desk, where i drew around there hands! I then cut them all out.These were going to be used to make Halloween Art.
After this we did halloween art. We were going to make ghosts using the girls footprints. Each girl came down to the back of the class were I dipped their foot in the white paint and then pressed onto the black page. then i washed their feet in a basion of warm water and dryed them too! This took a while but it was great fun and the girls all really enjoyed it. the ghosts turned out great
.
After we had finished making the ghosts,We did more art! Two by two all the girls came to up to my desk and they did sponge painting. They did the sponge painting on to their tree making Autumn leves using the Autumn colours!

The rest of the day I helped the students with whatever they were doing and did any jobs the teacher gave me.

I really enjoyed the day again and gained a lot from doing art with the children! Cant wait till next week!!!!! (:

week 3

Wednesday the 10th of October day 3!
In the morning at 9.10, as per usual the junior Infants were doing activities! I walked around,helped and talked to them all!
Then I was asked to go to the 1st class! I went to the the first class to accompany them and their teachers on a nature walk to Castletown. Each student brought a pencil, crayon and copy with them to do a bark rubbing and sketch.
When we set off i was told to stay at the end of the line to keep everyone in line at the back. During the walk i made sure everyone stayed in there two and walked in a straight line following the rest of the class. It  was a very interesting experience being out on a walk with the 1st class I learnt how to control and help the students on there walk. It was also interesting working with an older class.
Then after this i went back to the Junior Infants and had my break.
After this the junior infants were going on a walk! so I set off with them. I was at the back of the line. Their walk was shorter than the first class. it was a different than then being with the 1st class, they junior infants needed more controlling and looking after because their were younger. But the Junior Infants probably enjoyed the walk more because they had never been on a walk in school while the 1st class had!
The walks were great fun but tiring and cold!!! :) Over all the day was great it was really valuable seeing how the girls acted outside the classroom. :)
Couldn't wait till next week once again ;) :) ;)

Week 2!!!!!!!

This was my second day of work experience,I was really excited because my experience was really good last week!
When I went in the morning I meet the techer and the S.N.A again they were lovely once again. When the students came in they began to work on their colouring in the their workbooks So I walked around helping each and everyone of them. then the techer asked me to go around to all the girls and give them a sticker if they had finished and done well their colouring.
After break, the teacher gave each of the junior infanta a paper rug. There were lines on the page which they had to cut out. I gave out the sissors to all the girls and they began to cut. Cutting and using sissors was quite dramitic for the girls. Some had never used a sissors before and a few girls started to use their left hands to cut even they used their left to write! So myself, the teacher and the SNA walked around and helped them.
After this we did art! Finger painting apples! this was a really good experience for me because i hadnt experienced the girls doing art yet! During this lesson the junior infants were actually very well behaved and I walked helping again!
After lunch I was even jobs by the class teacher, which kept be busy! I really enjoyed the day again but I was tried at the end! All the staff that I encountered were really nice and helpful! I think I performed well and did everythink that i was asked of me to the bes of my ablity! Once again I couldnt wait till next Wednesday!

The First day of Work Experience!

This Wednesday was my First day of work experience in my old primary school Scoil Naomh Bríd. Got up in the morning and I felt really funny not putting on my school uniform in the middle of week! I was nervous but excited at the same time.

I meet the few girls that were going on work experience in the school outside the gates before school started. When we went into the office I noticed that the school had changed so much since we had been students there! All the little girls seemed so small it was hard to believe we were that size at one stage!!

The principal brought us around and showed us around all the new places in the school! then off to each of our classes.

I was delighted to get put with junior infants! The were all really excited to have someone one in there classroom! The were all so cute and very funny! they asked the funniest questions nearly all of them asked me what was on my teeth (my retainer)!! :)  

Throughout the day i helped the teacher with many thinks and helped the girls with their work! the teacher was lovely and friendly! She gave me lots to do which was good because i never got bored! I really enjoyed the day and cant wait for next week!!! I loved working with the junior infants they are great fun!

All the nerves were for nothing!
