Week 4 of first work experience placement!

Today was a really enjoyable day!!

In the morning I called all the girls one by one up to my desk, where i drew around there hands! I then cut them all out.These were going to be used to make Halloween Art.
After this we did halloween art. We were going to make ghosts using the girls footprints. Each girl came down to the back of the class were I dipped their foot in the white paint and then pressed onto the black page. then i washed their feet in a basion of warm water and dryed them too! This took a while but it was great fun and the girls all really enjoyed it. the ghosts turned out great
.
After we had finished making the ghosts,We did more art! Two by two all the girls came to up to my desk and they did sponge painting. They did the sponge painting on to their tree making Autumn leves using the Autumn colours!

The rest of the day I helped the students with whatever they were doing and did any jobs the teacher gave me.

I really enjoyed the day again and gained a lot from doing art with the children! Cant wait till next week!!!!! (:

week 3

Wednesday the 10th of October day 3!
In the morning at 9.10, as per usual the junior Infants were doing activities! I walked around,helped and talked to them all!
Then I was asked to go to the 1st class! I went to the the first class to accompany them and their teachers on a nature walk to Castletown. Each student brought a pencil, crayon and copy with them to do a bark rubbing and sketch.
When we set off i was told to stay at the end of the line to keep everyone in line at the back. During the walk i made sure everyone stayed in there two and walked in a straight line following the rest of the class. It  was a very interesting experience being out on a walk with the 1st class I learnt how to control and help the students on there walk. It was also interesting working with an older class.
Then after this i went back to the Junior Infants and had my break.
After this the junior infants were going on a walk! so I set off with them. I was at the back of the line. Their walk was shorter than the first class. it was a different than then being with the 1st class, they junior infants needed more controlling and looking after because their were younger. But the Junior Infants probably enjoyed the walk more because they had never been on a walk in school while the 1st class had!
The walks were great fun but tiring and cold!!! :) Over all the day was great it was really valuable seeing how the girls acted outside the classroom. :)
Couldn't wait till next week once again ;) :) ;)

Week 2!!!!!!!

This was my second day of work experience,I was really excited because my experience was really good last week!
When I went in the morning I meet the techer and the S.N.A again they were lovely once again. When the students came in they began to work on their colouring in the their workbooks So I walked around helping each and everyone of them. then the techer asked me to go around to all the girls and give them a sticker if they had finished and done well their colouring.
After break, the teacher gave each of the junior infanta a paper rug. There were lines on the page which they had to cut out. I gave out the sissors to all the girls and they began to cut. Cutting and using sissors was quite dramitic for the girls. Some had never used a sissors before and a few girls started to use their left hands to cut even they used their left to write! So myself, the teacher and the SNA walked around and helped them.
After this we did art! Finger painting apples! this was a really good experience for me because i hadnt experienced the girls doing art yet! During this lesson the junior infants were actually very well behaved and I walked helping again!
After lunch I was even jobs by the class teacher, which kept be busy! I really enjoyed the day again but I was tried at the end! All the staff that I encountered were really nice and helpful! I think I performed well and did everythink that i was asked of me to the bes of my ablity! Once again I couldnt wait till next Wednesday!
